The challenge: affordable software for SMEs

The SME plus segment and the “middle market” are increasingly data-driven. These companies often use multiple data systems, but building good reports remains difficult. The data from different systems is not consistent, not always reliable and usually not standardized. Master Data Management is the solution, but the current tools for this are mainly aimed at enterprise organizations and are therefore too expensive for this segment. AYBI saw opportunities for a pragmatic and cost-effective solution.

From whiteboard to prototype

We started the project like any good project should start: with thought. In this case, that meant sketching out rough ideas on a whiteboard and continuing to work from there. In a series of focused workshops, we worked towards concrete goals:

• Finding a sharp proposition and offering for this unexplored market

• A technical solution direction that could be achieved quickly and future-proof

• A working prototype of the MVP version

• One product roadmap

• A construction cost estimate

The project team consisted of experts from AYBI and Blis Digital. Ton van Dijk and Christian Boer contributed their knowledge of data and technology on behalf of Blis Digital, while product designer Rene Ooms provided a user-friendly design. Over a period of three weeks, spread over eleven months, we worked iteratively on the various components. Eventually, a prototype that was ready for validation was on the market.

On the way to realization

With this prototype, AYBI can now engage with potential customers. It provides a clear picture of what the future software will do and makes the added value immediately visible. AYBI is now using our cost estimation to build an internal business case. At the beginning of 2025, we will discuss the results of the market validation and the next steps that should lead to building the MVP.

The special thing about Blis Digital is that they not only build technical solutions, but also help us turn ideas into a full-fledged proposition. They guided us, challenged us and brought the right people on board. The concept sketches of the application in Figma are incredibly valuable to us for the rest of the process.
