Towards digital success together
Digital innovation seems so simple: you have a good idea, you put a bunch of smart developers to work to build it and your efficiency increases, the bottlenecks are out of your process and the money will roll right in. If you are a few projects, products or companies further along in your innovation journey, you know that things are a little more complicated.
Digital innovation can be highly complex and risky. Especially with the products we make: mission critical software that can mean the success or failure of an organization and where a lot is therefore at stake. Not only for the organization, but also for the people involved. Because within every organization, whether it's a startup or a large government organization, we see people struggling with innovation. People who want to move forward, who know that there is technology that can drastically improve the status quo, but who can't get it done alone. Or, and we see a lot of that, people who see that technology offers opportunities but are still looking for its good application.
Maybe that person is you. Perhaps you are the one who, once behind the wheel, knows exactly where digital product development in your organization should go, but you are looking for the right partner. Someone who takes a seat in the front passenger seat, helps you keep your innovations up to speed and provides you, your team and stakeholders with the right tools.
That's us. You know where potential opportunities lie for your organization. And creative as we are, we also put a number of ideas on the table. Together, we determine the right destination and where any blockages can occur. Once we have planned the route together, we will ensure that you arrive safely and efficiently. Our developers, designers and consultants are actively involved in every step you take, ask questions and point out risks, but especially opportunities.
A (pro-) active co-driver makes the difference
As a driver, you decide where we go, but a good co-driver keeps you on your toes. Points to obstacles. Alert you to a potentially interesting exit. This is exactly how we work with our customers: we are not passive executors who build software on command, but we are active partners in your digital journey. We think along, ask questions, challenge your assumptions. We help you select, validate, and possibly modify ideas. We offer alternatives that allow us to convert your ideas into working software as efficiently as possible. Instead of blindly following your instructions, we always check whether there is a faster or smarter route. And sometimes we pull the brakes.
Not a role, but a mindset
However, at Blis Digital, you won't find anyone with the job title “co-driver” on their business card. After all, it is not a position or a separate responsibility, it is a mentality that we expect from all our people. A developer who sees that a technical choice will cause problems in the long run is sounding the alarm. The same goes for a UX designer who notices that a certain feature is actually a redundant detour. We proactively share our experiences, insights, and concerns. No idea is sacred - not the customer's and not our own. It's about finding the best solution together, so everyone should be open to better ideas from others. Sometimes this means reducing an ambitious plan to its essence. Or that we recommend investing more time in the basics in order to accelerate later.
Do not speculate, but validate
“How can we be sure this works?” It's important that you ask that question, but it also matters a lot when you ask him. We prefer to do that at the beginning of a project than at the end. We validate ideas and assumptions before building. We invest time in talking to end users and analysing similar solutions. We won't immediately make an MVP, but first a simple prototype to test the concept. This costs time and money, but prevents much more expensive errors later in the process.
A practical example: in a recent project for a start-up, we developed an interactive prototype that really brought their idea to life. This gave everyone involved a better idea of the concept and, before we wrote even one line of code, we were able to properly determine what the exact operation and functionality should be. Building the right things, the right way
Here at Blis Digital, we don't build simple apps. We solve complex problems with complex technology. But that doesn't mean that every part of the solution is complicated or even complicated. state of the art must be. For one of our asset management customers, we deliberately chose to keep the backend simple with a low-code solution. The 'weight' of the project lay in the front end - the user experience had to be perfect there. By choosing wisely where to invest, we create more value with the same budget. This is what we mean by “building the right things, the right way”: building the right things by making the optimal choice functionally, in the right way (with the right technology). Sometimes this means taking a temporary shortcut, sometimes investing extra in the basics.
Risk Management Partner
“I'm paying you to build, not to ask questions, right?” We sometimes get this response. And it's true: ultimately, we need to deliver software. But it is precisely by asking the right questions that we ensure that your investment pays off. We are not a secondment company that provides developers on the basis of “you ask, we run, here's the monthly invoice”, but a partner that helps you make digital products successful. This means that we identify risks early and help manage them. Creating a prototype is often the most cost-effective way to test requirements - without writing a single line of code. This approach requires trust, but ultimately produces better results. And besides prototyping, we have many more tools that we can use to remove risks from your project at an early stage.
We work for smart innovators
We love working for ambitious enthusiasts and entrepreneurs who understand that digital innovation is complex. They appreciate that we keep asking and thinking along. They understand that writing code is both a creative and an exact profession and that one missing semicolon can bring an entire system down.
And by “entrepreneurs”, we don't just mean owners, directors and founders. Because entrepreneurship is at all levels in all organizations. We work with people who have the vision, want to move forward and are willing to learn every day. Because they're smart enough to know that they don't know everything - and see the value in that. Because that's the only way to create complex technology that adds value to your mission.
One example is the work we did for Redevco: a system that values real estate based on complex calculations, built against an (almost) impossible deadline.
The balance between ambition and reality
Digital innovation requires a balance between technical excellence and practical feasibility. We think big but start small. Validate ideas before we write code for them. Make conscious choices about what we do and don't focus on. This approach ensures better results with less risk. This is how we innovate successfully with our customers: by always finding the right balance between ambition and reality.
This requires trust, self-reflection, willingness to invest and open communication. You have to work on that and that costs time and money. But it gives you:
- Simpler, more future-proof solutions
- Higher business value
- More return on your development hours or project budget
Keep your digital innovation on track and invite us to your front passenger seat. The first step you take to do this is to schedule a meeting with our specialists. They listen to your story, ask questions and help you make the right choices.
