We'll take you into:

Start: 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible.

Bringing data in is step one. Turning it into a data model an organisation trusts enough to steer by, that's where the real difference is made. That's what we need you for.

At Blis Digital, we build data platforms on Microsoft Fabric for organisations that are serious about data-driven decisions, and that increasingly want to put AI on top of that data. Our platform engineer makes sure the data comes in reliably. You own the middle part: the silver and gold layers, where raw data gets its meaning.

What you'll do

  • design and build silver and gold layers in Fabric (PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake);
  • model star schemas per domain: facts, dimensions, history (SCD) and conformed dimensions;
  • translate KPI definitions and business rules into transformations that are demonstrably correct, with quality checks between layers;
  • make sure gold lands seamlessly in the semantic model (Direct Lake, Power BI Embedded, RLS);
  • build reusable patterns, so every next client goes faster and better.

You work on projects, not on secondment, in real estate, software, professional services and security. You join the design sessions and explain your own choices, to colleagues and to the client.

How we work: AI-Native Engineering

At Blis, we follow our AI-Native Engineering approach: small, senior teams with AI at the core of the development process, not as a gadget on the side. So you won't be typing PySpark eight hours a day. You design the model, direct AI agents and validate what comes out. That takes someone who defines sharply what needs to be built before a single line of code exists, and who owns the result.

Your team

Data Solutions is a young, growing team within Blis: a lead with over 15 years of BI experience, consultants who get to the heart of the client's question, and a platform engineer for ingestion and infrastructure. Small enough to have real influence, big enough that you're never on your own. Code gets reviewed, choices get discussed.

Your first 90 days

  • Month 1: you join an ongoing project, learn our blueprint framework and deliver your first silver/gold components.
  • Months 2–3: you own the data model of a client domain, from mapping to semantic model.
  • After that: you improve our standards and patterns, and help decide how we build.

What you bring

  • 4–7 years of experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer or BI developer, including a few years of actually designing data models;
  • you master dimensional modelling (Kimball) and can explain why you choose a particular grain or history approach;
  • strong SQL and hands-on PySpark or Spark SQL;
  • experience with Microsoft Fabric, or with Databricks/Synapse and the drive to switch quickly;
  • you understand how a semantic model works, can read DAX and work with Git;
  • you speak and write Dutch fluently.

Nice to have: Materialized Lake Views, dbt, DP-600/DP-700, experience with client-facing (multi-tenant) BI.

Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. We look at how you think and model, not at a complete checklist.

Who are you?

You've already done plenty of tinkering with AI. You have Codex or Claude review your code, write tests or untangle a mapping, and you know exactly where it produces nonsense. You try new things because you're curious, not because you have to.

You work independently: you set your own priorities, make decisions and document them. And you have an opinion. If a model is going to hurt in six months, you say so now. You don't stop at pointing out the problem: you come with a direction. And you're just as easily convinced by a better argument.

Why I'm building this team

"Almost every organisation wants AI, and almost none has a data model that can handle it. I'm looking for someone who, like me, isn't happy with 'the number is roughly right', and who wants to help build how we solve that."

Rajeev Hemai, Data Solutions Lead

What we offer

  • €4,217–€6,025 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on experience, plus annual profit sharing;
  • a one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract;
  • a personal training budget, including for your Fabric certification, and room to work with the latest AI tools;
  • a company laptop and phone, plus €250 for your home office;
  • 25 days of holiday and a pension scheme;
  • hybrid: 2–3 days at our office in Barendrecht or at the client, plus knowledge sessions, drinks and the annual ski trip;
  • training through our 4-level AI model, plus technical and soft-skill training.

Room to grow? The role can develop towards platform engineering. The team is growing, and we're building it with people who want to grow with it.
