To know what to create, you need to look into the user's head and find out what motivates the people who work with your software every day. What motivates or frustrates them. And just as important: what you want to achieve as a software maker. That won't work without business analysis, UX research and UX design.

Business analysis
The business analyst ensures that everyone in the project understands what we want to achieve together. By translating goals into concrete, verified requirements. With that information, the team can make the right decisions.

UX research
User Experience (UX) Research is concerned with verifying assumptions, testing designs, applications and usability, and analyzing user behavior and the context in which that behavior occurs. The data from UX research is essential input for UX design, but also for business analysts and developers.

UX design
A UX designer translates the goals, wishes and needs of users into an application design that works optimally for them and thus looks at the big picture of a software product and not just at the individual screens...
