Power Addicts Community has welcomed Elianne Burgers as a new board member. There, she will focus on organizing events and supervising speakers. The community organizes monthly meetups throughout the Netherlands for professionals who work with Microsoft Power Platform.

PowerAddicts NL brings together professionals who work with the Microsoft Power Platform. The community focuses on all parts of the platform: Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot, Power Pages, Dataverse, and Dynamics 365.

Blis Digital is a sponsor of PowerAddicts. This means, among other things, that we regularly make our office available for monthly meetups.

Knowledge sharing as a goal

“We're building a vibrant community where sharing knowledge is key,” says Elianne. “Our members share their experiences with Power Platform solutions and working with data sources in Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, and Azure. This exchange of practical knowledge makes everyone stronger, because developments in our field are happening so fast. No one keeps track of that on their own.”

“Sometimes it's about technical details, such as optimizing Power Automate Flows. Or you'll discover a new approach to a problem that you've previously solved in a different way yourself. You can take that practical knowledge with you to your own projects.”

Everyone is welcome at PowerAddicts, but in practice, it's mostly consultants and developers who visit our meetups. “Some of them work permanently at organizations,” says Elianne. “Others are independent. This mix makes the meetings extra valuable. We're creating a place where professionals meet and expand their network. This combination of knowledge sharing and networking provides valuable connections.”

Safe environment for new speakers

One of the things Elianne wants to do more as a board member is offer new speakers a stage. “Have you never given a presentation before? Then I will be happy to help you prepare. The atmosphere at our meetups is relaxed — this is a safe place to try.”

“We deliberately opt for small-scale meetings without cameras,” she explains. “That makes it less exciting for new speakers. At most, there will be a photo on LinkedIn that you are presenting. This way, you can quietly sharpen your story and grow in your role as a speaker without having every speech online forever. And the great thing is: we share real practical experiences. No slick marketing stories, but honest examples of what works and what doesn't.”

Personal contact remains important

Although there is a lot to find out about the Power Platform online, Elianne will consciously focus on the physical meetings. “Looking people in the eye and getting excited about technology together — that's what makes this community valuable. Digital contact is fine, but nothing replaces a personal conversation.”

According to Elianne, the strength of the community also lies in the diversity of perspectives. “I often go to presentations about topics that I don't work with directly myself. A speaker's enthusiasm about their expertise is inspiring. Even if you can't immediately apply it to your daily work, you'll always learn something new.”

Do you want to participate?

Have you become curious and would you like to participate in a meeting? Or are you even considering giving a presentation at one of the sessions? That's possible! You can easily sign up via the site or submit a session proposal via PowerAddictsNL Sessionize. Of course, you can also send a message directly to Elianne 🚀!
