At Blis Digital, it's not surprising that we're involved in teaching our new generation of developers, because it's in our DNA. That is why our colleague Dirk-Jan Los was allowed to act as Product Owner again this year in Project C: Developing a Real-Life Application, for the Information course at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences

The challenge

Dirk-Jan asked the students to come up with a solution for our lunch process. At Blis, lunch is provided every day for colleagues in the office. To prevent us from ordering too many or too few groceries, our colleagues and external parties must sign up for lunch. Our lunch supplier offered its own app for this purpose. As it turned out... not everyone used the app and it didn't work on all devices.

With a list of requirements, the students worked together to build an application.

And the winners are...

The groups came up with great solutions, but the absolute “winners of our 2024 Blis Student Innovation Award” were Lucas, Erik, Roggerio, Jurian and Tomas. Congratulations to you! Your application was the most complete and that's why you surprised Dirk-Jan. In short, a fair winner, according to Dirk-Jan. Congrats!

Office party

These winners were invited to the office for a festive moment with part of our team. They talked about their application and gave a demo. Awards were presented, had a cake and ended with a tour of the office. In short, a successful morning as far as we are concerned. Hopefully, we'll see these top players again soon when they look for an internship 😉.
