Blis Digital has won the European tender for hosting, management and further development of the Veiligheidsbeeld Application — a joint product of the Dutch security regions and the Netherlands Institute of Public Safety (NIPV). Last week, the collaboration was officially confirmed with a festive signing moment.

A Dutch success story

Veiligheidsbeeld was created in 2022 as a joint initiative by the six southern security regions (Zuid6) and spread rapidly throughout the Netherlands. The safety regions developed this digital overview of real-world threats and risks, where IGV Coalition and the NIPV have jointly supported the national rollout. Almost all security regions (the data from) now use this application every day to monitor threats and risks.

The web application offers safety regions and chain partners 24/7 insight into the current status of threats and risks. On an intuitive dashboard, users see an overview of various' topics' — from wildfire risks and infectious diseases to events and cyber threats. Each tile shows a clear color code (green, yellow, orange or red) with the ability to click through to detailed information and action options.

Ambitious plans for the future

In the coming years, ambitious further development will be key. Together with the safety regions and the NIPV, Blis Digital, as a technical partner, will further enrich the application with innovative functionalities that come from the practical experiences of users in the field. Think about:

  • Automatic notifications in case of risk changes, such as changing a KNMI color code or sudden threats.
  • Links to even more external sources, such as the Operational Risk Meter (ORM) and NL Alerts.
  • A more visual and interactive dashboard
  • Smarter user support, such as alerts, suggestions, and contextual help in the interface.

“We will set up the vision and strategy together with the safety regions, the Product Owner of the Veiligheidsbeeld and the NIPV,” explains Richard Schot, CEO of Blis Digital. “By working iteratively in short sprints, with feedback from the field, we ensure that each further development actually adds value for the people who work with it every day.”

Building a safer future together

Blis Digital is proud of the trust of the security regions and the NIPV. “This collaboration goes beyond technical development,” says Richard. “Together, we are building a future where information-driven safety is the norm. With technology that provides insight into risks, supports emergency workers and ultimately helps protect lives.”
